The Plant Path Ostuni

This playlist includes 20 musical pieces based on 20 native plants from the countryside of Ostuni (Puglia, Southern Italy). For the project, we sampled the plants to extract their DNA and translate it into music. The compositions were then created using AI.

Apulian Livingstone

Apulian Livingston is the first short film of DNA of Music, produced by Associazione Culturale CLABS and directed by the Apulian videomaker Luca Desiderato.
Inspired by the story “Jonathan Livingston Seagull” (Richard Bach, 1970), we wanted to narrate our land, Apulia, through the life and flight of the most common seagull species on its coasts: the Yellow-legged Gull.
The music of this short film has the flavor of freedom and flight, the feeling of being able to take off into the air just like a seagull: to create it, the genetic sequence of the DNA of the Yellow-legged Gull (Larus michahellis) was translated into notes, later harmonized by the Apulian composer Mattia Vlad Morleo.

4 HORMONES

These continuously transmit information between cells and tissues of multicellular organisms and act just like humans constantly involved within a gigantic, infinite, wonderful (but not meaningless) exchange of data.
This first project consists in to sonify the messenger RNA sequence that contains the information for the transcription of a hormone and making use of scientific studies we will compare the different effects that these contained in each of us and animals.
Because we humans and dogs, chickens, earthworms, cuttlefishes, salmons are all part of the great harmony of Nature.
